I want the story, put me there with the women and the emotions. I can only class this as a caricature of Chinese women for the entertainment of westerners. The chance to do so speaks for itself.

Yes it is very informative and the facts and lifestyles that are explained are very important and we should we aware of this history but it is just so dull. The book starts by relating the biography of Chang’s grandmother Yu-fang. Did not finish the book.
