That poor poor little girl. I would say this is mature material for mature people. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Gorey couldn’t have been much of a child-lover, if his stories were anything to go on.

In some ways, our culture has become much more permissive since Gashleycrumb was written in haplwss early 60s; but these days unspeakable things happening to children seems a rarely-crossed taboo.
Thanks for telling us about the problem. The story is succinct and powerful. As it turns out, this is fairly representative of the fates of children throughout Gorey’s work — they nearly always meet a tragic end.

As a UK based collector, do you find many Gorey items locally, or do you have to use the internet and buy overseas for most of your Gorey material?
